Monika

Monika’s green ceramic cup was purchased from The Planet Cafe in Kansas City, Missouri before the business closed in 2008. The ceramic cup has a single handle. Inside the cup is a brown paper coffee insulator which reads, “Planet Cafe Espresso Bar: 3535 Broadway St. # D Kansas City, Mo. 64111 (816) 561-7CUP”

The book Monika received as a gift from her Mother is titled Loving Ourselves: The Gay and Lesbian Guide to Self Esteem by Kimeron N. Hardin. The book has a glossy white cover with a rainbow border.

Casey

Casey’s “Thunderbird Ring” – a sterling silver ring bearing the geometric image of an Anishinaabe thunderbird. The ring features a single turquoise stone in the center of the bird figure, which has three tail feathers and a left-facing head.

Casey’s “pride pin” – a small silver safety pin that has been bent to add six rainbow-colored glass beads, then reshaped as a wearable pin.

Kelli

Kelli’s necklace, featuring a small silver pendant of the “lesbian” symbol made up of two interlinking “female” symbols. The pendant is on a thin silver chain.
